Cleaning prices Ottawa

A cleaning price should explain the work behind it.

C&L does not turn one room count or square-foot number into a false instant answer. The quote connects the actual space, condition, priorities, frequency, access, supplies, and optional work to a price structure you can review before booking.

Choose the pricing path

Different cleaning situations need different quote structures.

01

Recurring commercial

Expected time per visit, cleaner count, frequency, travel, equipment, supervision, and operating needs are normally organized into a monthly amount. First-clean and periodic work can remain separate.

02

Recurring home cleaning

A per-visit amount reflects the established routine, visit frequency, home layout, priority rooms, products, pets, access, and tasks that remain consistent.

03

Deep and first cleaning

A fixed or estimated quote reflects current buildup, selected detail, accessible surfaces, room priorities, add-ons, and how much uncertainty remains after photos or review.

04

Move and turnover cleaning

The quote accounts for vacancy, deadline, utilities, appliances, cabinets, remaining contents, debris boundaries, keys, parking, inspection expectations, and batch volume.

Cleaner-hours explained

Team size and elapsed time are not the same thing.

Cleaner-hours describe the total labour assigned. This helps compare the work behind different team arrangements without assuming that every visit uses one cleaner.

One cleaner

Three hours onsite

One cleaner working for three hours equals three cleaner-hours.

What can change it

Condition and access

Parking, setup, stairs, clutter, pets, blocked surfaces, extra detail, or changed conditions can affect productive cleaning time.

What shapes the quote

The questions behind a commercial or home cleaning price.

Space and layout

Cleanable area, levels, washrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, offices, shared rooms, stairs, and floor types.

Rooms and fixtures often drive labour more accurately than total square footage alone.

Condition

Maintenance-level, first clean, buildup, pet hair, grease, move condition, construction dust, debris, or unsafe material.

The starting point determines pace, products, detail, risk, and whether the work fits normal cleaning.

Frequency

One-time, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, multiple weekly visits, rotating work, or seasonal detail.

Frequent maintenance is usually more predictable than occasional recovery work.

Access and timing

Parking, keys, fobs, concierge, alarms, elevators, pets, occupied rooms, arrival window, after-hours rules, and lockup.

Travel, setup, restricted access, and narrow windows affect how the team can work.

Products and supplies

Who provides products, equipment, storage, liners, paper products, soap, approved alternatives, and specialty tools.

Materials and handling responsibilities must be priced and assigned instead of assumed.

Optional detail

Appliance or cabinet interiors, reachable windows, baseboards, carpets, floors, high dusting, reporting, photos, or urgent work.

Keeping add-ons separate protects the base routine and makes approval easier.

How to read the proposal

Five numbers or terms worth checking before approval.

Base service amount

The amount for the approved routine and frequency, with the billing period or per-visit basis stated.

First-clean amount

Any separate work needed to move the space from its current condition into maintainable service.

Add-ons and periodic work

Optional services, unit rates, or separately approved work that is not part of the base routine.

HST and payment

The quote should state whether HST is included or added, when payment is due, and how recurring invoicing works.

Change conditions

Added areas, changed frequency, access failure, heavier condition, deadline changes, or new tasks that may require review.

Quote and schedule details

Validity, acceptance step, proposed start, availability, cancellation or rescheduling terms, and anything still subject to confirmation.

Pricing FAQ

Questions to ask before comparing cleaning quotes.

Why does the first clean cost more than recurring cleaning?

The starting visit may need more detail and buildup removal before a predictable maintenance routine is possible. Separating that work keeps the later per-visit or monthly amount honest.

Why not price every office by square foot?

Square footage is a useful starting signal, but washrooms, kitchens, private rooms, traffic, floors, waste, access, frequency, and service window can make similar-size offices require very different labour.

Are supplies and HST included?

The applicable quote should state product, equipment, consumable, and HST treatment. Do not assume paper products, soap, liners, specialty machines, or optional products are included unless written.

Can a quote change after the first visit?

Not simply because the service has started. A revision should be discussed when the actual condition, work, access, frequency, or approved tasks differ materially from the assumptions used to quote.
